Directed by Neek's constant pointing, Mecha set down on a rocky outcrop over the large and far-strung Windy Ruins. They weren't called windy for nothing; the breeze threatened to throw Mecha over the edge. The blue lizard's claw pointed to a deep, perfectly round hole in a round cliff face, going down into darkness. The wind seemed to pour into it, a varied pressure vacuum. A strange, red glow seemed to be coming from the cavern. "There," Neek said. His voice and language seemed to be gaining clarity. |

Mecha nodded as he jumped down into the hole, his scanners on maximum, to ensure he could navigate well. "You're getting better at talking." Mecha said, deciding to start a small conversation. |

He smiled, showing teeth, memory returning. His voice changed dramatically, the kiddish near-falsetto becoming the baritone of a young adult, sans cracking. "I'm remembering who I am." Pristine, flawless voice. As they descended, the red light become more intense until they were engulfed in it, but that soon passed as they entered a truly massive chamber, a perfect hemisphere. The walls and ceilings, one continuous surface, were covered in prophecies and histories, it seemed, of some sort of hedgehog--Cybers, Neek knew. One depicted a white hedgehog surrounded by seven diamonds facing down a dark hedgehog atop what looked like a giant Chaos Emerald, though the diamonds and emerald were red in color. Inside the dome, lining the entire floor, was a massive temple complex consisting of seven square pantheon, all centering around a pyramid that nearly went to the middle of the ceiling. The hole was just off center, and Neek jumped from Mecha's back and scrambled down with flawless balance and grip, jumping twenty feet to one of the pantheons and entering between two columns. |

Mecha Sonic followed, taking a picture of the two hedgehogs facing each other. For some reason, it reminded him of the one in the Hidden Palace, of the tapestry depicting Super Sonic against Robotnik for the fate of the Master Emerald. "I just hope you don't change too much. I hope I'm not just a tool, a way for you to get the Emeralds.." He says, as he gets closer to Neek. |

"No emerald!" he shouted, his voice gaining its own identity, his thoughts increasing in speed as a portion of his dense gray matter became active, neural links forming and shooting at lightning speed. "Something different!" He looked out as Mecha hovered above. "Come, I require... strength. There is a vault, something deeper." Behind him, beneath the pantheon roof and lit by some unseen and completely ambient source, an uplifted, round slate of stone, the same white as the same of the structure, sat, decorated with another depiction of a hedgehog, this one a mosaic of one stumbling across a gigantic gem. Perhaps the same as the one under the black 'hog on the dome wall? |

Mecha came down to the door he was to open, and gathered power from the Chaos Emeralds he held to go super. He grabbed hold of the vault door, and started to lift. "This better be significant. Mark Seven won't be wasting time in his mission to rule this world." He said, continuing to lift. |

A burst of air nearly sucked Mecha in as the vault door swung open with very little effort. Neek, unfortunately, had neither the grip nor the weight to hold him down, and fell into the hole. This hole, unlike the one above, descended into absolute darkness, landing with a sickening thud. Fortunately, no crack was audible. After a loud groan and a bit of silence, Neek called up to Mecha, "Here it is!" |

"This," Neek said, holding a mysterious, red gem in his hands. No, he wasn't holding it. It was hovering above his palms. "This is something different. It is..." his eyes nearly rolled back into his head, the barely-existent whites of his eyes appearing, "This is a Cyber Crystal. And this is going to help us later. Trust me. Something is going down. Can't remember it exactly... so damned foggy," he paused slightly noticing he had cursed. Oh well. "Do know what a Cyber is?" |
