Maldrid got off the train at the Mystic Ruins station and breathed in the air, taking it all in. He enjoyed coming here because of the atmosphere and the plethora of archaeological sites within close proximity to the train station. He grabbed his bag of things and walked out of the train station. Maldrid had made sure to grab all of the items he considered essential. He had grabbed some food, his tools, and his daggers. You never knew what you might encounter while out working. The ruins were rumored to be filled with unexpected surprises, so he didn't want to go unprepared.

Today he was working alone. He enjoyed the solitude that these ruins had to offer. It was a great way to escape the constant motion of city life. The silence was also something that allowed Maldrid to think even better. Problems that would normally in the noise and crowded conditions of the city would not be solved. He swung his bag over his back and walked in the general area of the echidna ruins. These were the ones that interested him the most, partly due to the fact of how an entire civilization could wipe itself out. It was a truly interesting subject to him.

Maldrid was now walking inside the caves that lead to the ruins. When he reached the exit and saw the ruins before him he smiled to himself. Every time he came here the ruins would be something that he'd have a great amount of respect and awe for. The pyramid in the center of the jungle that lined the bottom of the basin that it was in was always there to greet him whenever he got the chance to come here. After Maldrid had spent some time admiring the scenery he walked down the path to get to the pyramid.

Today he felt like reading the writing that was inside the walls of the structure. Though he knew a good bit about this place the writings on the walls always interested him. It gave him a glimpse of the past and the culture that this civilization had. Perhaps he'd find something new to read that was of interest to him, he didn't know. This was one of the reasons why these ruins were so interesting to him.

Maldrid walked along the path and finally arrived at the pyramid. He walked up slowly to the structure that loomed before him. Today he'd look around the outside of the structure. Perhaps he'd find something new today.

~*~ Beware of Yiff ~*~

[[[Sorry, took a bit longer than I thought to get my character out of there.]]]

Indeed he did find something, or, rather, smelt it: smoke. Though not prominent, it was noticeable, and some of the trees in the vicinity outside the clearing seemed to have been knocked down, shot, or damaged in some form or another. A blur came through the trees, cream-furred and wearing a red shirt and black pants, a metallic blue gauntlet covering his left forearm. Unable to stop--he was unaccustomed to the Extreme Gear on his feet--Truff spun ass over teakettle and collided with Maldrid, sending them both into the mud.

While the archaeologist was merely knocked down, the rabbit kept on going, his Gear clicking off via failsafe. Inertia, however, carried him forward, his collision with a large tree imminent. However, with a throw of his left arm, he stopped, his body shocked but unbroken, the opposite side of the tree's trunk shattering into thousands of pieces. Falling back, Truff managed to catch himself on his arms, not falling completely into the moist ground; however, the tree in front of him broke backward, destroying several others in the process.

OOC: Ah, no problem :D

Maldrid was indeed shocked because of the collision. He never would have expected to be hit by someone who was flying out of control. In fact he didn't think anyone would be prepared for that in any sort of way short of precognition. Maldrid was hit in the side and was sent flying over into the mud. He got up slowly and brushed off as much of the mud as he could. Maldrid was indeed a sight to see. Mud was all over him, in his clothes, in his hair, but he didn't let that get to him. After brushing off a little bit he remembered that he was likely attacked by whatever had hit him. So he grabbed his daggers as fast as he could and faced in the direction of his supposed assailant. He approached with caution, "Who are you! Show yourself!" Maldrid couldn't see who it was but he knew that someone or something was behind those plants.

Supporting his weight with his gauntlet, and still heavily dazed, Truff rose to his feet. His head swam in confusion, trying to take in his surroundings. It proved almost impossible for almost a full minute, then he realized that he hadn't gone far at all. In fact, he was sure had hadn't gone more than a few hundred meters. A blur? Some sort of animal, had fur. Spinning around, the rabbit drew his sword and switched his glove to its firing mode, a slight hum emanating from it as a small dot of plasma charged within. "Who am I?" he said. "Who the hell are you?"

This one looked as if he meant business Maldrid would have to be prepared for anything that this one would throw at him. At this point he saw no trouble if he gave his identity. "I'm a simple archaeologist. I have done nothing to aggravate anyone. Why did you attack me?"

"I didn't!" he exclaimed, staggering forward a step before falling down, resting his weight on his sword. It slowly sank into the mud. "Urgh!" he said, pulling his katana from the sticky soup, spraying mud everywhere. "Just great," he muttered. "I just went way too fast on my Gear," he explained, walking past Maldrid to the pyramid, turning and slumping back against the rough surface a bit harder than his ass would like. He cringed as his tailbone reverberated in pain.

Amber flew over the trees on her scooter. Her dowsing skills weren't so hot at finding things like people, especially at speed, so the direction she had chosen was due mostly to intuition. Eventually, she spotted Truff in the forest below, facing off against a dagger-wielding wolf. She wound up passing them and had to make a quick U-turn.

"Truff!" she called out as she swooped in for a landing. She leapt off at the last second, landing next to the rabbit and slinging the scooter over her shoulder. "Are you okay?"

Maldrid saw that these new faces didn't mean any harm to him so he spun his daggers in his hands and sheathed them. He then walked over to grab his bag of tools. The rabbit seemed to be hurt but his female friend went over to help him. Maldrid felt that he was not needed in the situation and started to head off in the direction of the pyramid, walking past the two to get there.

As Maldrid passed near him, Truff grabbed his arm with his gauntlet and thrust him next to him. "Take a seat, friend," he said sarcastically, pinning Maldrid down. He waved hello with his other hand. "Hey, Amber, didn't think I'd see you again so early. I'm fine, just a few bumps and bruises." His smile widened across his face. "As usual, huh?"

The rabbit looked over to the canine archaeologist, shaking his head. "What're you doing out here, anyway?" he asked, trying his best to wipe his katana on the stone structure at his back. He had little respect for bygone civilizations, though he suspected would care a bit more if his family wasn't alive. He sighed.

"Seems that way so far," Amber said to Truff. The wolf tried to ignore them and walk on by to the temple, but Truff grabbed him and sat him down. Amber sat opposite him and took out her pendulum. She didn't know of any Chaos Emeralds nearby, but if there were more than seven major Chaos Energy sources it couldn't hurt to check.
