At least it's not any special date to us. It's Americans who celebrate Independence Day, not us. Technically, we're not independent, we're a kingdom, allied with Scotland and Wales and a little bit of Ireland. And our postal system is on strike now. Royal Mail are a bunch'a greedy fckers always* wanting more money. I expect they earn Ł160k by now. If a postal strike is announced then the general public reaction is along the lines of "Again?! This will only mean a week of late mail. Who cares?"

Around here, I can generally expect to receive mail between noon and six, but I think that's just this city. The last place I lived got its mail at a more regular time, but then the last place I lived had a community pool, and the mailman had a key so he could use its restrooms.
