Mecha Sonic boosted into the area of the Egg Scrapyard, his sensors going crazy over the amount of machinery that laid here. He would find a nice amount of scrap here, he figured, so he slowly flew down, his jets coming to a halt as he landed on a large metal island. He started to salvage anything he could find, from destroyed badniks to damaged computer servers. He would be able to create new arm weapons with the scrap he found here.... even new defenses.... |

It seemed that Robotnik had already thoroughly stripped many of his creations; indeed, Egg Carrier I and II seemed particularly void of workable innards, computer system stripped from the visible portions. Part of the whole of the Scrapyard seemed to have been destroyed--was there still activity here? The entire area resonated of Chaos Energy, not surprising how often they had come in contact, but some faint source seemed to still resonate from deep within, its exact location impossible to locate among the static. Several abandoned robotic hulls--including some of the older versions of Metal Sonic--were inside the Egg Carrier, however, filled with replacement circuitry and servos. However, the Egg Scrapyard was not merely a collection of Eggman's failed projects; within his metal fortress, his robotic minions scanned the area. They identified Mecha Sonic as one of their own brethren, unaware of his treachery. However, a more prominent, intelligent creature, his body being repaired and added onto without the knowledge of his creator, watched with disgust. "That filthy traitor," Metal Sonic Mk VII said, his voice module upgraded, his voice villainous and filled with loathing. "He shall pay for his crimes against this empire." He sat upon a throne constructed by automatons eager to do his bidding; his shell was slowly being restored to its past glory and beyond. |

Metal Sonic laughed. "And now that Lord Robotnik is out of the picture, rotting within a maximum security prison without a hope for escape, it is time that I make my grasp at power," he said bluntly, standing as the last panel was fitted onto his "shoes." He was taller, nearly six feet, intimidating even by human standards. His head spikes jutted at random angles, though they always faced backwards, their outer surfaces colored cobalt, their inward-facing faces a standard chrome. His entire chassis was reinforced with welds and replacements, his innards packed with add-ons and upgrades. "And my first order of business... destroy the traitor." The entire fortress became abuzz with old Buzzbombers and other Badniks long-since abandoned, Egg Pawns activating and marching out of hidden corridors within the outlying constructs. They swarmed around Mecha, their Egg Lances facing towards him, some even carrying the archaic firearms of their original designations. |

Mecha Sonic turned to his fellow robots, and made a quick assessment. While he didn't want to fight them, he knew there was no way he could convince them not to. That was the one thing he didn't like about his fellow robot-kind. Once they've been assigned a task, you can't change their minds. Mecha Sonic went into spin mode, and launched himself at a single badnik, to start a bouncing spree, bouncing from one badnik to another, before launching himself down to where the Chaos signature was. |

The malcontent robots explode in a rapid chain as Mecha continues, Metal watching from his throne. "Indeed, as I expected," he said, placing his hands behind his back in military fashion. "Activate the Egg Smasher," he continued, his voice delivering orders in fluent machine code. The Scrapyard shuttered as the mechanical beast lurched from its home, giant treads pushing it along the ruin, crushing and twisting metal beneath its bulky. It was a definite dome shape, a semi-circle with treads, its most prominent feature being the (highly experimental) kinetic cannon at its top, swiveling the upper half of its dome body. It blasted Mecha, who was thrown down and through the floor into a large chamber within the fractured mass of the Death Egg, which the Smasher fell into, as well. landing harmlessly. |

Mecha Sonic pried himself out of a crater caused from the impact, and looked at the machine, his new opponent. He didn't know what was controlling it, but he knew it was something he had to eliminate if he was to find whatever was making the Chaos signature. He scanned it, particularly the cannon, hoping he could find some kind of weakness in it. He almost considered using the Chaos Shard he had, but he had yet to figure out how to harness its energy without shattering it. He didn't want to resort to that. |

It seemed pretty tightly-made, its surface probably impenetrable like most of Egghead's creations. No apparent visual sensors, or any sensors, for that matter, were visible. Its treads rushed it forward with haste, another shockwave compressing the metal and sending it flying, warping it and sending Mecha upward, as well. |

No sensor arrays ment that the thing was blind, and relied on someone else controlling it from outside to be of any use. Mecha Sonic went into spin mode to minimize the damage he received upon impact with anything, then came up with an idea. He bounced off the wall he collided with, to come back down on the cannon itself. If that didn't work, he'd start searching for whatever controlled the tank. Taking that out would effectively stop the tank. |

Mecha bounced harmlessly off the cannon; indeed, its hull was nigh-impenetrable. It fired another shot, but missed, sending scrap up into the air and filling the atmosphere with sparkling particles of metallic dust. It swiveled around once more, its invisible--or, more specifically, out of sight--sensors attempting to lock, but blocked from view as the shiny iotas of iron drifted further upward in their metal fog. |
