A mesmerizing display of light nearly blinded Xern, until he felt its absence; a creeping feeling overcame him as the initially lit dome had suddenly shut down, it was as all that had been within had disappeared. Suddenly, lights began to spring all around, their mote-like bodies hovered about, their complex forms escaping Xern. Though he could not understand what was to take place, he knew one thing, and that was that something was on that pedestal, something which he could actually grasp unlike the lights. Unable to heed whatever warning the lights had offered, he approached the source of his objection and grasped at the gem, its cut contours glowing with a red luster. He could feel its warmth in his hand as he contemplated its light. Without a pack to place it in, he stored it within his robes, now intent in finding his way out of here. |

As his hand grasped the crystal, Xen's body was consumed by energy, wrapping around him and bending to his innate desire to leave. In less than a second, he was on the surface, the gem hot in his hand, its luster tarnished for a few seconds until returning to its previous sate, crimson and beautiful. Once again, however, the ugly and depressing landscape of the crater stretched to all horizons, nary a tree nor bush anywhere. |

((OOC: I think we can close the thread now)) Xern being somewhat estranged by the turn of events took a single glance at the crater and sped off, thinking his employer would be content with the shard. |
